We have only just begun March and it is a jam packed month!

We are starting with Birmingham Conservatoire’s production of Kurt Weil’s ‘Street Scene’ at The Crescent Theatre.  It is great fun for the orchestra as we have ventured out of the pit!!  As we are on stage the orchestra have to be in costume as well, I have had fun experimenting with hairstyles and make-up.  It has been great fun.  The show opened last night (9th March 2012) and we have 3 shows left.  It’s a fantastic production and you should all come!!

I also have a recording session coming with Bob Payne.  Bob Payne is a Tuba Player in his final year at Birmingham Conservatoire and will be playing Ophicleide on the recording.  We will be recording ‘Yellow Things’ by Jeffer Kyle, a final year Composition student also at Birmingham Conservatoire.  We have had great fun rehearsing the piece, next week we will be rehearsing with Bob and at the end of March will enter the recording studio!  I look forward to posting back about this!!

I am also leading an orchestra on the 20th March for a Britten Concert, supported by the Britten-Pears Foundation.  The conductor is Andrew Hopper and the soloists Dale Harris and Mark Bennett.  We are playing; Britten ‘Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, Mozart ‘Symphony No. 20’ and ‘Three Lieder arr. for Tenor and Orchestra’.  The rehearsals are going well and the concert is going to sound great!!

Later that week I am also Co-Leading for Orchestra Alive!  We are holding an education concert for school children, playing popular pieces such as ‘Lord of the Rings’ and the ‘Great Gate of Kiev’.

The wedding season is also upon us and weekends are being booked for violin duos and string quartets, with visits to Wales for some weddings!

I look forward to sharing the results of these fantastic concerts and gigs coming up!!
